Against the Gales' rejection, disperse amongst the sea,
Dead to who will know us, so drowned here we shall all remain.
The gulls of morn, they cry weakly,
Falling back into the water, to dream of yesterday;
Lost to those who loved them, so lost we too shall always be.
And the sailor, whose friend was swept up by the tide,
He will know sorrow only a brother's love could confidently grasp.
Sing farewell to that odyssey which forever more only he can name.
Lay your respect upon the current, purge breath beyond your life
So when the sun forgets us, like candles all, we too are swallowed whole,

Criticism; the noblest kind,
And of thanks, they returned none
But thoughtless ignorance.
Neglect tremors into pools,
Chills the pavement, cold as bone.
His hand rattles a Dixon cup;
They offer not a glance.
Words of vigor, sounds of youth
Lay beneath a sullen sack
And pulp in the winter slosh,
Drenching through his clothes.
Stops not a passerby
To render aid nor care.
A match beneath his spoon
Reminds him what he loathes.
